Rising Tide – 2019 Week 18

Welcome back to Rising Tide, the weekly digest of things I’ve discovered or been into this past week and consider worth sharing. Enjoy!

1. This squirrel cop story is hilarious!

2. The documentary on Fiona Oakes is an hour and a half of awe.

3. I spent a few day in Florida on a mini vacation (hence the brevity of this week’s post). Some recommendations from my travels:

• Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and pretty much anything else associated with the Audubon
• I’m not sure why I’m so late to the Indian food game, but here I am! We had a perfect dinner at Spice Club. Friendly staff, extensive menu. My new favorite meal might be an order of garlic naan, a bottle of Taj Mahal, vegetable biryani, and a madras coffee. Mmmm!

We walked Corkscrew Swap today, the largest virgin bald cypress forest in the world! Beyond fascinating! In two hours, we walked two miles and saw/heard too many wildlife species to count… everything from #baldcypress, #buttonbush, #ferns, and #lichens to #herons, #egret, #pigfrogs, and a mama #alligator with her 9+ babies! When is #davidattenborough going to narrate the documentary for this place? #audobonsociety #cypress #naplesflorida #florida #cypressknees
