Rising Tide – 2019 Week 43

Welcome back to Rising Tide, the weekly digest of things I’ve discovered or been into this past week and consider worth sharing. Enjoy!

  1. Recommended reading:
  • My Favorite Thing is Monsters by Emil Ferris ★★★★★
    • Just walking through the library, I saw this book on the shelf and was instantly intrigued. Striking cover and a dark impression just flipping through the pages. I could not read it fast enough! And there’s a sequel I am anxiously awaiting! Emil Ferris is so talented, and I look forward to exploring more!

  • Scribbled in the Dark by Charlies Simic ★★★★
    • Again, I was just walking through the library and saw this book on the shelf in a Poetry display. Each page invokes a different emotion: some poignant, some admiration, some simply observation.
  • Camping Out by Ernest Hemingway ★★★
    • A cute little read, classic Hemingway vibe.

2. Last weekend, we visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Although I was there once before 5+ years ago for a quick visit, this time was much more memorable! Great tunes, cool memorabilia! My favorite part is learning about who inspired who. There is a deep rooted appreciation for every kind of music, even if it isn’t really “your style.”

And admission is FREE for Cleveland residents!

3. What do Glen Infante (remember him from back in Rising Tide Week 16) and L.L. Bean have in common? No, it is not a riddle; it’s THIS!

(Rabbit hole: Jim Rohn)

There’s even a Grand Opening event this week for the new mural!

4. Shiny is a fun little stop motion video! So cool and creative!

5. REI has announced it’s #OPTOUTSIDE campaign again. In brief, instead of shopping on Black Friday, boycott consumerism, and go outside! Here are the details.

6. And here is this week’s playlist:

That’s all I’ve got! Until next time…
