Write something.

Write something.

Then improve it.

Then write something else.

Repeat this process until you have a post.

Then post it.

Then repeat this process.

There’s no such thing as writer’s block. There’s simply a fear of bad writing. Do enough bad writing and some good writing is bound to show up.

And along the way, you will clarify your thinking and strengthen your point of view.

But it begins by simply writing something.

– Seth Godin, Write Something

There is always an ongoing list of sorts, a lot of things I would like to write about. Except, the list is more a spattering of things, a little bit everywhere… a few lists, really. These little ideas live on post it notes, in the Keep app (essentially, the Notes section) on my phone, on a torn out piece of notebook paper, in my head… These are fragments of future posts. Something about them has potential. I do not get around to them as often as I would like.

Well, here’s to trying something new. Writing something…anything. I am writing some of these prompts down to hold myself accountable in hopes that, someday, I will write something else and repeat the process until I have a post.**

So here are some of the ideas I have:

  • Queer is my favorite kind of camping
    • a recap of our trip to Mammoth Cave and the day hike with The Venture Out Project
  • Why the dirty mug?
    • old maritime beliefs that I do not hold true, but one that I do!
  • Try anything for 30 days
    • no alcohol, no makeup, write friends notes
  • Coffee and soccer
    • two universals
  • Tips for reading
    • a list of things to help one read more
  • Get bored on purpose
    • observing everyday things, thinking, and thinking about thoughts
  • A life doesn’t have to be measured in years
    • it can be in books read, miles walked, smiles shared
  • Mt Rainier: Thoughts from the Trail
    • sharing highlights of my day at Mt Rainier National Park
  • The Sun Will Find a Way
    • about our temperamental relationship with the sun

Here’s to hoping that some of these will come into fruition. Until then, I’ll keep writing. And improving. And writing something else.

**If any of these do, indeed, become posts, I will come back and attach a hyperlink so you can see what came of it.
