Rising Tide – 2019 Week 13

Welcome back to Rising Tide, the weekly digest of things I’ve discovered or been into this past week and consider worth sharing. Enjoy!

1. The Uncomfortable, a follow up to The World’s Most Uncomfortable Chairs found in Rising Tide 2019 Week 11.

2. Nina Katchadourian‘s Flight Log from Seat Assignment, art made in flight with a phone’s camera and materials aboard the plane.

Seat Assignment is born from an investment in thinking on your feet, from optimism about the artistic potential that lurks within the mundane, and from curiosity about the productive tension between freedom and constraint.

– Nina Katchadourian

3. The best book I read this week is Art Matters by Neil Gaiman ★★★★★ A combination of a few different writings by Gaiman hardly about art at all, it is mostly about reading, children, communication, ideas, creativity, and… well… life!

4. Why I signed up to run a half marathon

I hope we can all agree that the long run is made up of a bunch of short runs.

That seems obvious.

The surprising thing is that we live our short runs as if that isn’t true.

– Seth Godin, The long run (and the short runs)

5. Weigh patience in pounds

6. Happy Birthday, Vincent van Gogh! 10 Facts and fun graphics for the artist that was born on March 30, 1853.

7. Loved By All: The Story of Apa Sherpa

8. This week’s playlist is made up of songs I’ve discovered or have been listening to a lot this week:

Well, I think that’s it for this week! Until next time…
